What details can autofill with Forms?

Merge field keys let a form pull information from the file it's created on, such as the customer name, loss address or claim number. Add a key to a component once, and every form created from that template fills it in automatically.

Before you get started

Components: merge field keys are added on the API tab of a component, such as a Text Field or a Currency Field.

Case sensitive: enter each key exactly as shown in this article. For example, customerName works, but customername and CustomerName don't.

Add a merge field key to a component

Open the form template you want to edit.
Click the component you want to auto-fill, such as a Text Field or Currency Field.
Click the API tab.
In the top field, enter the merge field key from the lists below.
Click Save to save the component, then Update to save the form.

When a form is created on a file, the component fills in with that file's current value.

Tip: use a Currency Field for dollar amounts such as deductible and totalEstimates, and a Text Field for names, addresses and numbers.

Tip: use a Text Field for phone numbers, to ensure the special characters are included. Otherwise you may end up with the first 3 numbers only showing.

Troubleshooting

If a component stays blank, check that the key matches this article exactly, including capital letters since they are case sensitive.
If the key is correct but the component is still blank, check that the matching field is filled in on the file. For example, claimNumber stays blank when the file has no claim number.
If the problem continues, contact support (support@xlrestorationsoftware.com) and include the form name, the component name, the key you entered, the file number and a screenshot of the component's API tab.
